Alaska shipping

Shipping your vehicle either to or from Alaska isn't always done via truck. Shipping also takes place on a barge, a small vessel carrying many containers that have your vehicle or other cargo inside. This is to ensure timely service and safe transport of goods.

Some vehicles such as modified vehicles with low ground clearances or high-tops will require an auto carrier. Because of Fidelity's vast carrier network, we can also service units requiring this service. With this in mind you can be comfortable in knowing that Fidelity Auto has the tools and knowledge necessary to complete your shipment properly, and safely.

  • Can I ship my items in my vehicle?
Yes, you can ship personal items on standard sailings, however on transports via truck, we may need a list of items for the CBSA. This is because the truck will be traveling across Canadian borders. Another thing to keep in mind is that this is only typical for shipments that terminate in Washington State, and Alaska State only as the USDOT does not permit household or personal items in vehicles when being transported across state lines.
  • Should I put anti-freeze in my vehicle before sending it to Alaska?
Yes, yes, yes, please do not forget. Without it, your vehicle may not start. It's very unfortunate for clients when they forget this one step. A lot of our warmer climate based customers do not do this.
  • How long is the transit time?
Provided that weather conditions are nominal and nothing out of the ordinary occurs, normal transit time is 10 - 14 days originating or terminating in Alaska or Washington. Added transit time would be added for any inter-modal shipments.
  • My vehicle is modified, are there extra costs?
If your vehicle has a lift kit, over-sized tires, wheel chair lifts etc. Please let your representative know what the added dimensions and/or weight added are so we can give you a proper quote. Pictures help as well.
  • Do you ship RVs, Boats, Machinery etc.?
We sure do, to accurately quote you, please call us so we can better assist you. We'll need dimensions, weight, and some photos if you have them so we know exactly what we're dealing with. Bear in mind there are some restrictions on certain items, so full disclosure is required for us to price and service accurately.
  • Do you ship vehicles that do not run?
Inoperable vehicles can be shipped to and from Alaska, we do have the capability and tools to facilitate your transport. You will need to inform your rep whether the vehicle steers, rolls, and brakes so we can provide you with an accurate quote.
